Job summary

SGMC Health is seeking a Biomedical Technician to ensure the safe operation of diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment through maintenance, calibration, and installation. You will collaborate with clinical staff to uphold high patient care standards and report to the Director of Biomedical Services.

The ideal candidate has an Associate degree in medical electronics or related field (or military equivalent) and 1–2 years of equipment maintenance experience; CBET certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in medical electronics or related field preferred.
  • 1–2 years of medical equipment maintenance experience preferred.
  • CBET certification preferred.
  • Ability to read schematics and manuals.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure biomedical devices meet regulatory requirements and quality standards.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment issues using technical knowledge.
  • Participate in on-call service for urgent equipment needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical staff to resolve operational problems.
  • Perform planned maintenance on various medical equipment according to guidelines.
  • Work in a team to monitor, resolve, and elevate equipment issues.
  • Provide status reports, gather department requirements, and provide input on equipment purchases/services.
  • Process service requests from scheduling to completion.
  • Conduct inventory inspections and request necessary parts, supplies, and instruments.
