Position Summary

The Biomedical Equipment Technician III (BMET III) applies advanced technical expertise to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide range of biomedical and scientific equipment. This role serves as a senior-level technician with the ability to lead jobs, train junior techs, and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory codes in healthcare and research environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, test, calibrate, and validate new medical equipment
• Perform complex repairs, preventative maintenance, and safety inspections
• Troubleshoot malfunctions using advanced diagnostic tools and documentation
• Maintain accurate service records, inventory logs, and equipment histories
• Support contract compliance by evaluating service agreements and ensuring timely PMs
• Train and mentor junior BMETs and assist with onboarding new staff
• Stay current with industry standards, regulations, and technological developments
• Adhere to infection control and safety policies within clinical environments
• Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or related field
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in biomedical equipment service, especially on life-support or surgical equipment
• Strong technical troubleshooting and repair skills
• Proficient in reading schematics, service manuals, and regulatory codes
• Comfortable working in hospitals, labs, and client sites independently
• Clear understanding of infection control, sterilization protocols, and patient safety regulations
• Strong organization and time management skills
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (travel required)

Preferred Experience

• Experience with equipment such as:
• Defibrillators, ventilators, anesthesia machines
• Surgical lights and tables
• Sterilizers and autoclaves
• Infusion and syringe pumps
• CMMS experience
• Certification (CBET or equivalent)
