Job summary

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or Certificate in Biomedical Equipment Technology (or Military Biomedical Technology Course) required.
• Bachelor degree preferred.
• 3 years minimum experience in installation, testing, maintenance and repair of medical equipment in a hospital setting with 2 years' experience in maintenance physiological monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, repair and calibration on complex electronic patient care and clinical equipment per standards.
• Interpret inspections and document per Joint Commission and departmental policy; identify safety hazards.
• Respond to work requests, troubleshoot malfunctions and repair equipment safely and timely; install and maintain complex diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.
• Schedule third party repairs when beyond department scope.
• Maintain test equipment and communicate with nursing and medical staff to prevent equipment failure.
• Evaluate new, rental or demonstration biomedical equipment and make recommendations.
• Observe departmental policies to promote efficiency of repair services.
• Assist management with maintenance of records and manuals per regulations.
• Educate on use and operation of clinical equipment; respond to emergencies; uphold CARE commitments.
• Maintain privacy and security of confidential information.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
