Qualifications

• Requires an Associate degree or certificate in Biomedical Equipment Technology or equivalent, with a Bachelor’s preferred.
• Minimum five years installing, testing, maintaining, and repairing medical equipment in a hospital setting, including ventilators, anesthesia machines, and monitoring systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance, repair, and calibration on complex electronic patient care equipment and related biomedical systems.
• Interprets inspection procedures and documents results per Joint Commission and departmental policies.
• Responds to work requests, troubleshoots malfunctions, and completes repairs safely and efficiently.
• Schedules third-party repairs when in-house expertise is insufficient.
• Maintains test equipment and tools; coordinates with nursing and medical staff on equipment operation.
• Participates in evaluations of new or rental biomedical equipment and advises on acquisitions.
• Adheres to clinical engineering practices and departmental policies for efficient service operations.
• Maintains departmental records and assists with education on equipment use.
