Job summary

GE HealthCare is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician in New Orleans, LA to evaluate, diagnose, repair and PM basic biomedical equipment on-site for our clients.

The role requires 1st shift, relocation assistance, and strong teamwork with hospital staff, adherence to GE policies, and thorough documentation of repairs and tests.

Candidate will lift up to 35 lbs, complete safety inspections, stay compliant with regulatory requirements, and participate in on-call coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
• Or equivalent military education; OR GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship or Military Externship program.
• OR High School Diploma/GED and 2+ years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT or mechanical equipment.
• Analytical and communication skills to explain technical issues to customers clearly.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues and perform repairs and PM.
• Assist more experienced technicians on repairs/resolution.
• Communicate effectively with teammates and customers.
• Follow GE policies, procedures and hospital protocols; document actions.
• Maintain daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and satisfaction.
• Support GE/customer facility contracts and business goals.
• Work with local team to deliver efficient service across accounts.
• Share on-call duties when trained.
• Document repair actions and submit reports on schedule.
• Care for spares, tools and test equipment; ensure calibration.
• Maintain current knowledge of standards, codes and procedures for safe equipment use.
• Utilize manuals, tech support and online resources to answer questions.
• Meet Health and Human Services and Environmental Health and Safety requirements.
