Job summary

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a Teaching Assistant/Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering with emphasis on bioinstrumentation, biomechanics and biologics-based design. This professional track role centers on teaching, with responsibilities across UNC-Chapel Hill and potentially NC State campuses.

Responsibilities include delivering lectures, assessing student work, supervising labs, and guiding a teaching assistant when provided.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Biomedical Engineering, or related field. For an Associate level, a minimum of six consecutive years of full-time service as a Teaching Assistant Professor (or equivalent) along with documented evidence of distinguished teaching and service is required.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of lectures that cover the course objectives as stated on the course syllabus following the university calendars.
  • Assessment of student performance including exams, projects, laboratory assignments and/or homework assignments as outlined on the course syllabus.
  • Oversee laboratory components and coordinate with lectures when the course contains a lab section.
  • Provide supervision to teaching assistants if provided and coordinate assignments within workload limits.
  • Teach 2 to 3 courses per semester (4 to 6 per academic year) across UNC-Chapel Hill and possibly NC State campus.
  • Collaborate across BME units (UNC Chapel Hill, UNC School of Medicine, NC State College of Engineering) to support pedagogical investigations and publications.
