## Biomed Equipment Tech 2Apply: Mercyhealth Freeport Hospital - Freeport, IL: Full time: Posted Today: 2026-03075**OVERVIEW**This role maintains, repairs, and safety-tests a wide range of medical equipment to ensure reliable and safe operation for patients and staff. The position also manages equipment records and work orders, collaborates with clinical staff and manufacturers, and serves as a technical resource across Mercyhealth locations. **SCHEDULE:** 40-hours per week, Monday-Friday**SHIFT:** Days **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*** Services various equipment and apparatus including but not limited to patient monitors, electrocardiographs, blood gas analyzers, x-ray units, defibrillators, electrosurgical units, anesthesia apparatus, pacemakers, blood pressure transducers, spirometers, sterilizers, diathermy equipment and other related technical paraphernalia.* Safety tests various equipment to ensure patient and staff safety from electrical or mechanical hazards.* Consults with medical or research staff to ascertain that equipment functions properly and safely.* Demonstrates proficiency in entering, completing, retrieving information regarding work orders, assets, PM schedules, and other functions and applications of the CMMS database as pertains to daily operation of the department.* Modifies or develops instruments or devices, under supervision of medical or engineering staff.* Works collectively with salesperson or service technician or equipment manufacturers or their representatives to assure proper operation of equipment.* Completes daily work orders and other tasks as assigned with minimal supervision.* Acts as a resource for partners.* Participates in managing inventories and operational budget, taking emergency call and helping with special events.* May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts and weekends.* May require travel with personal or company vehicle.* May be assigned to any of Mercyhealth locations.**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE**Associate Degree in Bio-Medical Engineering/Electronics or related or related Military equivalent certifications or CBET Certification.Minimum 1-3 years of experience in an environment that pertains to installing, maintaining and repairing medical, electronic and/or mechanical equipment **CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE** Certification as a Bio-Medical Technician by AAMI preferredMaintain a valid driver's licenseHave and maintain driving record per Mercy’s HR-01 Fleet Safety policy **PAY RANGE:**$27.17 - $40.75Mercyhealth is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
