Job summary

NAES Corporation seeks an Operations Manager for the Franklin Biomass Facility in Carnesville, GA. You will lead daily plant operations, supervise staff, manage fuel handling, and ensure safe, compliant, and efficient electricity generation.

You will partner with Maintenance, Engineering, and Compliance to optimize performance, manage budgets, coordinate outages, and drive continuous improvement while upholding safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline; supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience in power generation operations, preferably biomass or solid-fuel.
• Strong knowledge of boilers, steam turbines, generators, fuel handling, water treatment, and emissions control.
• Proven ability to analyze operating data, troubleshoot issues, and drive efficiency improvements.
• Working knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
• Leadership skills in supervising and developing Operations personnel and safety culture.
• Experience coordinating contractors, outages, and operational improvement initiatives.
• Budgeting, cost control, and resource planning in a continuous-process setting.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily plant operations and supervise Operations personnel to ensure safe, reliable generation.
• Develop and manage operational budgets and control expenditures.
• Set operator schedules, staffing, and on-call coverage.
• Coordinate biomass fuel deliveries, handling, storage, and testing.
• Monitor equipment performance to identify trends and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering on repairs and outages.
• Oversee water chemistry programs and chemical inventory.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental permits and company policies.
• Lead training and development of operations staff.
• Maintain logs, procedures, and regulatory reports.
• Prepare for emergencies and coordinate response.
• Interface with grid operators and stakeholders on generation schedules.
• Oversee contractor projects and asset reliability initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
