Job summary

NAES is seeking a Control Room Operator for Plainfield Renewable Energy, a 37.5 MW biomass gasification plant in Plainfield, CT. You will monitor plant systems, manage alarms, and execute start-up/shutdown procedures to maintain safe, reliable operation.

You will operate DCS and PLCs, log key process data, ensure emissions controls, and coordinate with maintenance. The role requires adherence to safety, regulatory programs, and a rotating 12-hour schedule with 24/7 coverage.

Qualifications

• Four years of high school education or equivalent is expected.
• Extensive biomass and steam turbine plant operations experience.
• Experience with alarm management, HMIs, DCS and emissions control systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform start-up, operation, and shutdown of boiler, steam turbine and generator in accordance with safety standards.
• Operate DCS to control biomass boiler and ancillary systems; monitor critical parameters.
• Manage PLCs for wood yard and boiler ancillary systems; refer to manuals and procedures.
• Record and review logs, emissions data, fuel/water consumption, and heat rates.
• Identify equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance and operations teams to resolve them.
