Job summary

NAES Corporation is seeking a Control Room Operator for the Franklin Biomass Facility in Carnesville, GA. You will monitor and control the Foster Wheeler boiler, steam turbine generator, and biomass handling systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient power generation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Demonstrated experience in biomass, steam generation, or power plant operations including control room activities.
• Knowledge of biomass-fired boilers, steam turbines, generators, and related equipment; Foster Wheeler boiler experience preferred.
• Familiarity with emissions control and monitoring systems (SCR, hot precipitators, CEMS).
• Reading and applying operating procedures, manuals, and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Conduct start-up, operation, and shutdown of plant equipment per safety and operating procedures.
• Use DCS/PLCs to monitor and control boiler, turbine, biomass handling, and balance-of-plant systems.
• Respond to alarms and abnormal conditions with corrective actions to maintain safe, reliable generation.
• Record critical operating parameters: pressures, temperatures, fuel use, electrical output, steam, emissions, water use, and equipment status.
• Oversee emissions control equipment (SCR, hot precipitator) for environmental compliance.
• Assist maintenance by identifying equipment conditions and coordinating with maintenance and technical staff.
• Review logs and plant data; maintain accurate records of generation, steam, emissions, and consumption.
