Job summary

NAES is seeking an Auxiliary Operator at Plainfield Renewable Energy in Plainfield, CT to support biomass power generation. You will participate in start-up/shutdowns, operate biomass fuel handling and emissions control systems, and perform routine inspections with the operations team.

The role requires a safety-focused individual with foundational biomass or thermal power experience, capable of working a 12‑hour rotating shift and maintaining accurate logs.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma required; associate degree preferred.
• Experience in biomass or thermal power generation operations is advantageous.
• Familiarity with emissions control systems and water chemistry is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist start-up, shutdown, and routine operations of biomass plant systems.
• Operate and monitor conveyors, feed systems, ash handling, air compressors, boiler feedwater, and emissions controls.
• Perform inspections, diagnostics, and minor repairs to ensure reliable operation.
• Follow lockout/tagout and safety procedures during service and handovers.
• Record logs and shift reports; participate in CMMS documentation.
• Identify abnormal conditions and support corrective actions with CRO.
• Support maintenance activities and document work in CMMS.
• Work with control room staff and plant management to ensure safe operation.
