Strong safety awareness and teamwork are essential. Qualifications include MA 2nd Class Engineer License, power plant ops experience, and solid communication and math skills.

Qualifications

• Must have power plant operations and/or maintenance experience.
• 1–2 years related experience or training in a similar position.
• Knowledge of combustion conditions, boiler and turbine generator operations.
• Must have basic computer skills and data entry ability.
• Good verbal communication skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to safety practices and ability to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Start, operate, shut down and secure equipment from the control room or field.
• Troubleshoot and assist with preventative and reactive maintenance.
• Carry out lockout-tagout, de-energization and energy verification tasks.
• Complete plant rounds and inspections for malfunctions or failures.
• Maintain logs and records documenting operating conditions and irregularities.
• Perform water chemistry testing and dosing of treatment chemicals.
• Identify hazardous conditions and escalate to supervision as needed.
• Understand process controls and monitor equipment performance and variances.
• Monitor process variable feedback and respond to deviations for safe operation.
• Carry out routine preventive maintenance on ash removal, boiler, fuel systems etc.
• Develop operating procedures to ensure safe, consistent operation.
• Assist with scheduled or forced outage maintenance and coordinate contractors.
