Pacer Group in South San Francisco, CA, seeks a scientist with degree and 3+ years of relevant experience in chemical biology or related fields to advance inflammation and metabolism programs. The role includes in‑vivo dosing in rodents, immunoassays, and molecular biology techniques (Western blot, qPCR).

You will work independently within a collaborative team to drive target identification and therapeutic development.

Qualifications

  • Experience in inflammation, metabolism, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with small laboratory animals, especially rodents; in vivo dosing and handling.
  • Familiar with immunoassays and standard molecular biology techniques (Western blot, qPCR).
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational and time management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a dynamic team.
  • Experience in target identification/validation, adipose/liver/muscle biology, immunology related to insulin resistance.
  • Evidence of scientific productivity from publications/presentations.

Responsibilities

Job description

Associate degree with 3+ years , or Bachelor’s Degree with 2 or more years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree with 1 year or more of relevant experience, in chemical biology, molecular and cellular biology, pharmacology, biology, or other relevant scientific discipline.

Additional years of relevant industry experience are preferable but not required.

Experience and Skills
  • Experience in inflammation, metabolism, or a related field.
  • Experience working with small laboratory animals, especially, rodents with hands‑on experience in all types of in‑vivo dosing (IP, IV, Oral etc.), bleeding, and handling techniques.
  • Familiar with routine immunoassays (bead or plate based) as well as standard molecular biology techniques (western blotting, qPCR, etc.).
  • Works independently and is able to simultaneously handle a diverse workload with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work flexibly in a dynamic team environment.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: target identification & validation, adipose, liver, or muscle biology, immunology in the context of insulin resistance.
  • Evidence of scientific productivity based on publications and presentations.
Note:

40hrs/week onsite role.

Tuesday- Saturday

8am-5pm PST

Responsibilities:

The individual will perform experiments in the laboratory with minimal guidance and supervision in the design, execution, and interpretation of complex in vitro/in vivo/ex vivo studies to support target identification, validation, and therapeutic development. The successful candidate will also possess a strong sense of intellectual curiosity to expand their technical expertise at the bench, as well as effective written and interpersonal communication skills to explain complex experiments and biological concepts to a broader scientific team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Solving complex problems by undertaking innovative approaches and applying state-of-the art technologies.
  • In‑vivo dosing, bleeding, and handling of rodents during a shifted workweek that includes the weekend.
  • Ex‑vivo sample processing and analysis
  • Scientific curiosity, analytical mindset with a drive to own a project to understand biology, mechanism of action and drive it through the discovery pipeline.
  • Ability to work independently in executing tightly controlled experiments, analyzing data, and presenting to teams within the disease area.
  • Effective communicator, having people skills and being able to work as a team player and working effectively in a matrixed environment.
  • Design, perform, troubleshoot, document, analyze and interpret assigned research, with minimal supervision, to support exploratory activities as well as project focused goals.
  • Scour and critically evaluate current literature to identify opportunities for new and existing programs.
  • Establish key assays and model systems, suitable for the mechanistic investigation of potential targets, as well as evaluation of therapeutic candidates.
  • Effectively communicate data and findings to broad project teams.
