Job summary

Cogent Scientific, a contract research organization, seeks an in vivo biologist to lead design and execution of pre-clinical studies in oncology. The role supports translational biology efforts and collaborates with discovery teams to advance novel in vivo models.

Responsibilities include preparing drug solutions, administering multiple routes, implanting tumors, collecting samples for PK/PD analyses, and contributing to SOP development. Day shift, onsite, with relocation options available.

Qualifications

• BS in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or related field with 5 years of related lab experience, or MS with 2-3 years of related lab experience.
• Extensive in vivo pharmacology experience, preferably in oncology.
• Experience with IVIS imaging is preferred.
• Proficiency in GraphPad Prism.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong teamwork and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute in vivo studies with pre-clinical discovery and translational biology teams.
• Collaborate with discovery technologies teams to develop and implement novel in vivo models.
• Prepare drug solutions and administer via multiple routes (e.g., SC, tail vein, IP, IV, oral gavage).
• Tumor cell implantation and tumor measurement using a caliper; orthotopic implantation preferred.
• Harvest tissues (blood, tumor, bone marrow, spleen) for PK/PD and toxicity analyses; perform flow cytometry and histology as needed.
• Culture tumor cells and contribute to SOP development.

We currently have a role available for an Pharma In Vivo Biologist.

Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Design and execute in vivo studies with pre-clinical discovery and translational biology teams.
• Interact and collaborate with various discovery technologies functional teams to develop and implement novel in vivo models.
• Prepare drug solutions and inoculations, multiple routes of drug administration (e.g. subcutaneous, tail vein, intraperitoneal, and retro-orbital injection and oral gavage).
• Tumor cell implantation and tumor measurement using a caliper.
  • Orthotopic implantation is preferred.
• Harvest blood, tumor, bone marrow, spleen and other tissue samples from mice to help establish PK/PD and toxicity measurements, flow cytometry analysis and histology.
• Culture tumor cells according to SOPs and contribute to the development of SOPs.

Job requirements include, but are not limited to:

• BS - Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or related field with 5 years of related lab experience experience or MS wiith 2-3 years of related lab experience required.
• Extensive expertise in vivo pharmacology skills preferably in oncology.
  • Experience in IVIS imaging is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in Graphpad Prism is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
• Works well both as a team and as an individual.
• Demonstration of excellent team player skills, very strong attention to detail, very strong problem-solving skills, a high level of learning agility, and the ability to work across functions. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and self-motivated, with the leadership and communication skills necessary to operate effectively in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment with flexibility and an adaptable approach to goal delivery.

This is a day shift position (approx. 8a-5p local time).
