Job summary

PharmaEssentia U.S.A. seeks a Scientist I, Biologics Production to support discovery and early development of biologics. You will establish, optimize, and scale workflows for recombinant protein and antigen production using mammalian CHO/HEK systems, with hands-on purification and characterization.

You will implement high-throughput strategies, improve throughput and capacity, and collaborate across internal teams and external partners to advance discovery programs.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS with substantial industry/academic experience in biologics.
• Experience producing antibodies, antigens, multispecifics, or protein therapeutics.
• Demonstrated 24- to 96-well recombinant-protein expression/purification in mammalian systems.
• Purification using FPLC/ÄKTA systems and method development.
• Characterization using SDS-PAGE, SEC, BLI, SPR; assess quality and binding.
• Independent progression of experiments, troubleshooting, and clear communication of results.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and data-analysis skills; manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Execute high-throughput mammalian cell culture and recombinant protein expression workflows including transient expression.
• Develop methods to improve throughput, reproducibility, turnaround time, and production capacity for biologics discovery.
• Purify recombinant proteins using chromatography workflows (FPLC/ÄKTA).
• Perform fit-for-purpose protein quality and characterization to guide decisions.
• Troubleshoot expression, purification, yield, purity, stability, quality, and throughput challenges; implement solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams, CROs, and external partners; coordinate protein production activities.
• Maintain experimental documentation and prepare high-quality scientific reports and data summaries.
• Contribute scientific input; stay current with biologics platform development.
