Qualifications

• FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of clinical or hospital experience.

Job description

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse)

Support plasma center operations and ensure donor safety and eligibility under the guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE) results.
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for medical emergencies, assisting with development of physician standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is required by occupational health or ER; refer to EHS guidance as needed.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community.
• Provide center‑level support for environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives in accordance with BioLife Medical Affairs guidance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or recognized nursing program graduate with state requirements.
• Licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be performed: LPN or LVN.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Completion of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Completion of FDA‑approved training for the BioLife Medical Support Specialist role.
• Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Hourly Wage Range
