Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support center operations under the Center Physician. You will assess donor eligibility, manage medical histories, and help ensure regulatory compliance in a fast-paced plasma collection environment.

The role requires state nursing licensure (LPN/LVN), CPR/AED certification, and clinical experience. You will contribute to environmental, health, and safety initiatives and may participate in vaccination programs.

Qualifications

  • LPN/LVN license or equivalent state certification.
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Completion of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • FDA‑approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training completed.
  • Two years of clinical or hospital experience.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility, obtain consent, interview medical history, perform physical exams, test blood, and review SPE results.
  • Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and follow medical emergency procedures, including standing orders and donor transport.
  • Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical guidance.
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Coordinate with occupational health/ER for incidents following EHS guidance.
  • Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS.

About the role

As a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse), you will report to the Plasma Center Manager and work under the guidance of the Center Physician for medical matters. You will support plasma center operations, ensure compliance with regulations, and contribute to environmental, health and safety (EHS) initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Determine donor eligibility, manage informed consent, provide AIDS education, interview medical history, conduct physical examinations, perform blood testing, and review Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) results.
  • Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in SOPs and follow applicable medical emergency procedures, including development of Center Physician’s standing orders and arranging donor transport to emergency care facilities.
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when findings require guidance on medical or technical issues related to donor safety and eligibility.
  • Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/ER for further evaluation, following EHS guidance.
  • Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or completion of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
  • Licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
  • Completion of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Successful completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Compensation

U.S. hourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44. The actual hourly wage offered may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. U.S. employees may be eligible for short‑term incentives and participation in 401(k) plans.
