The Tai Lab in the Department of Biophysics at the University of Michigan seeks a Research Laboratory Technician Associate to join our new interdisciplinary team launching in January 2027.

You will participate directly in research projects, receive training, and help establish daily lab operations while developing independence. This role welcomes recent graduates and those seeking additional research experience across disciplines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or associate's degree required.
• At least 1 year of experience in a research lab.
• Ability to follow protocols and maintain accurate records.
• Willingness to learn new techniques and work collaboratively.
• Committed to laboratory safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Grow and maintain bacterial cultures and perform biofilm growth assays.
• Perform PCR, DNA cloning, and strain construction under supervision.
• Assist fluorescence imaging and microfluidic experiments; analyze images and data.
• Prepare media and reagents; maintain inventories and assist with equipment upkeep.
• Participate in lab meetings and contribute to presentations and publications as appropriate.
