Job summary

Ideal Consolidated, Inc. seeks an experienced BIM Technician to join the VDC and Prefabrication team serving the South Bend, Indiana area.

The role emphasizes BIM coordination of mechanical piping, HVAC, and plumbing systems, with collaboration across project managers, field teams, and fabrication shops. You will develop detailed BIM models, generate shop drawings, and create fabrication spool drawings, using Revit, Navisworks and Forma to support planning, field execution, and prefabrication

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years BIM/VDC experience in construction.
• Modeling and coordinating Mechanical Piping, HVAC and Plumbing systems.
• Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage and Forma.
• Experience performing BIM coordination and clash detection.
• Experience generating fabrication spool drawings.
• Strong understanding of construction means, methods and MEP installation.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents and drawings.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Team-oriented work approach.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed BIM models for MEP systems.
• Participate in multi-trade BIM coordination meetings and resolve clashes.
• Produce installation and shop drawings from coordinated models.
• Create fabrication spool drawings for prefabrication and field install.
• Support BIM workflows for planning, field execution, and prefabrication.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, superintendents, and field staff for accuracy.
• Perform clash detection and coordination reviews using Navisworks.
• Maintain BIM standards and modeling practices.
• Support VDC initiatives and continuous improvement across lifecycles.

We are seeking an experienced BIM Technician to join our growing VDC and Prefabrication team in the South Bend, Indiana area. This position requires an individual with strong experience in mechanical piping, HVAC, and plumbing systems and a proven background in BIM coordination, shop drawing production, and fabrication spooling.

The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in Autodesk design and coordination tools and capable of working closely with project managers, field teams, fabrication shops, and trade partners to deliver accurate and coordinated construction models.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed BIM models for mechanical piping, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
• Participate in multi-trade BIM coordination meetings and resolve clashes through collaborative coordination efforts.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of BIM/VDC experience in the construction industry.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working for a mechanical contractor or specialty trade contractor.
• Familiarity with prefabrication workflows and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of construction sequencing and field installation practices.
• Experience with laser scanning and reality capture workflows is a plus.
• Associate's degree, technical degree, or equivalent industry experience.
