Canam Steel Corporation is seeking a BIM Specialist to develop and improve internal BIM processes and collaborate with software experts. You will prepare steel joist and deck models from contract documents in line with customer requirements and industry practices while aligning with CSC objectives.

You will work with internal stakeholders and software developers to advance BIM workflows, attend coordination meetings, and ensure accurate data across models and drawings.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Drafting or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; Bachelor's degree a plus.
• Five years of drafting experience; high school diploma or equivalent may substitute for education.
• Minimum of 8 years of related steel experience; Joist and deck experience a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of Tekla experience in preparing steel models.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical procedures.
• Clear understanding of steel designations on contract drawings.
• Ability to model complex projects without constant supervision.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with customers.

Responsabilités

• Provide customer support during erection process.
• Utilize Tekla and AutoCAD software; ensure productive use of tools.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Summary

The BIM Specialist is tasked with further developing and improving the internal processes related to BIM as well as working with software experts on similar matters. Tracks projects with BIM requirements and communicates both internal and external expectations accordingly. Prepares clear, complete, and accurate steel joist and steel deck models from contract documents in accordance with the customer's requirements and industry practices while consistent with our corporate mission, values and department objectives.

Essential Functions

• Work with internal stakeholders as well as software developers to further improve the overall BIM process at CSC.
• Attend BIM coordination meetings with both external and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain a list of all projects with BIM requirements and track and communicate milestones accordingly.
• Prepare models utilizing CSC proprietary software and Tekla for submission to the customer.
• Examine documents such as contract drawings, specifications, and change orders to verify completeness and accuracy of data according to the designer's drawings.
• Check the accuracy and completeness of models generated by self as well as others.
• Interprets feedback to create, modify, and optimize building components including CSC products.
• Generate bills of materials for CSC products based on model and layout drawings and including loading and design requirements.
• Coordinate with the customer's steel model and other design models as required.
• Maintain job files in appropriate computerized file directory for access by other departments.
• Notify Project Management of any change in scope due to revised drawings or customer requests and post changes to computerized or manual control records.
• Confer with document originators to resolve discrepancies and update CSC submittals accordingly.
• Provide customer support through the erection process for questions that may arise.
• Utilize Tekla and computer associated drafting (AutoCAD) equipment and software.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in an effective manner with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Performs other job duties as assigned by supervisor.

Work Environment

• General office environment.
• May require occasional exposure to production area with airborne particles, loud noises, and extreme heat and cold. Personal protection equipment is required when entering manufacturing plant.
