Job summary

Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) in Newington, CT, seeks a Transportation Engineer 3 to advance digital delivery for highway and bridge projects. You’ll develop complex 2D/3D models and support BIM adoption across design and construction phases.

You will coordinate with BIM leaders nationwide, use Bentley OpenRoads/OpenBridge, and mentor staff while exploring digital twins, data management, and CAD to GIS workflows. Hybrid work arrangements may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and minimum three years of transportation engineering experience.
• One year at working level as Transportation Engineer 2 or equivalent.
• PE licensure or EIT path allowed as substitutions.

Responsibilities

• Oversees engineering work and performs complex design for highways and bridges.
• Designs foundations and bridges of advanced design.
• Manages field inspections and data for design decisions.
• Coordinates with towns, consultants, and state/federal agencies.
• Recommends revisions to drainage and structural designs.
