Job summary

Biltmore Workforce Management in Asheville, NC is seeking a Support Services Staff II to perform general maintenance across the Biltmore Estate, including plumbing, electrical, painting and light carpentry. Starting pay is $17.85/hour, with a flex schedule averaging 20–29 hours per week.

The role runs Monday–Friday, 6am–4:30pm. Essential duties include repair work, setup and breakdown of Special Projects, safety compliance, and assisting other departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• At least two years of maintenance experience; three years preferred.
• Experience with carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems; trade licenses preferred.
• Strong planning and time management and attention to detail.

Job DescriptionThe starting pay range for this position begins at $17.85/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements.Flex: A position working an average of 20-29 hours per week (between 1000 - 1559 hours/year).Support Services Staff IIs perform general maintenance in Biltmore House and other historic structures on Biltmore Estate including, but not limited to: general plumbing, electrical, painting, stone cleaning, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, and light carpentry.Assisting other departments such as Floral, Museum Services and Housekeeping.Schedule can vary, but is generally Monday-Friday from 6am - 4:30pm.Requirements:1. High school diploma. Additional education, training, and/or certification(s) preferred.2. At least two (2) years of previous maintenance experience required. The preferred candidate will have three (3) years of experience, including working with historic structures.3. Must have prior experience with repair/maintenance for carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and/or electrical systems. Trade certifications and/or licenses are preferred.4. Strong planning, organizational, project and time management skills, with excellent attention to detail and a focus on quality.5. Ability to be proactive and take initiative as well as work effectively both individually and as part of a team.6. Ability to take direction and understand and execute instructions successfully.7. Ability to operate various equipment, tools, and machinery.8. Should be comfortable with responding to guest questions and requests in a manner consistent with Biltmore standards.9. Must have a valid driver’s license, be at least 19 years of age, and have a clean driving record for the past three years.Essential Job Duties:1. Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds on a regular basis with assistance.2. Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.3. Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and/or scaffolding.4. Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat/kneel.5. Ability to work both inside and outdoors in all types of weather conditions with fluctuations in temperature.
