Job summary

Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP is seeking a Billing Specialist in Nashville, TN to prepare and distribute accurate pre-bills and invoices while interacting daily with billing attorneys and secretaries.

The role requires knowledge of legal billing procedures, strong Microsoft Office skills, and meticulous attention to detail to support timely, high-quality client billing and reporting.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Business Administration or related experience in legal services.
• Experience with legal billing procedures and electronic billing applications such as Aderant Expert is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist billing attorneys with prompt client billing.
• Review pre-bills and generate accurate invoices; encourage cyclical billing.
• Regularly follow up on unbilled accounts to ensure timely completion and high service levels.
• Anticipate and troubleshoot issues from policy, personnel/attorneys, and clients.

The Billing Specialist prepares and distributes accurate pre-bills, invoices, and standard analysis/reports, which involves interacting with billing attorneys and secretaries daily.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist billing attorneys with prompt client billing.


• Review pre-bills, generating accurate invoices an encouraging cyclical billing practices.


• Regularly follow up on unbilled accounts, ensuring that all functions are completed in time and with high service levels.


• Anticipate and troubleshoot Issues from the perspective of policy, personnel/attorneys, and clients.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

• BA/BS degree in Business Administration or related experience, preferably in a large legal services or professional services organization


• Knowledge of effective legal billing procedures and of computerized legal billing systems and electronic online billing applications (Aderant Expert) is a plus.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Strong computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office


• Strong typing/keyboard skills and able to use a 10-key calculator by touch.


• Ability to self-direct, prioritize tasks and work with minimum supervision and with Individuals at all levels of the organization.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills


• Organizational skills, attention to detail and the willingness to work as part of a team are highly desired.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.


• Ability to lift up to 20pounds.

The expected salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skill set, and geographic location.
