Job summary

MBC Talent Connections is seeking a Billing Specialist in Daly City, CA (or Irvine, CA) for a full-time role. The position supports accounting across operations and partners with Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle—from contract award to closeout.

The role requires at least a Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance and 2+ years billing experience in a consulting setting, with strong Excel skills and familiarity with Deltek Ajera or Vantagepoint.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Minimum 2 years of billing experience in a consulting environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel with pivot tables, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with Deltek Ajera or Deltek Vantagepoint is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build strong working relationships with Project Managers and serve as a trusted resource on all billing matters.
• Set up and maintain projects in Deltek Ajera; read and interpret contracts for accounting and invoicing implications.
• Generate invoices (125–175 per month) and prepare monthly billing reports for Project Managers.
• Review labor and expense postings for accuracy; process transfers as needed.
• Submit complete invoice packages to clients on time with proper backup documentation.
• Follow up with clients on invoice receipt and payment status; address collection issues with Project Managers.
• Monitor project Work-in-Progress (WIP) and address aging WIP in collaboration with PMs.
• Respond to inquiries promptly; investigate issues and communicate resolutions clearly.

Billing Specialist

Location: Daly City, CA or Irvine, CA | Type: Full-Time | Salary: $72,500 to $91,000/year

About the Role

This full-time position provides accounting support across company operations and reports to the Senior Accountant. You'll serve as a key point of contact for Project Managers throughout the full project lifecycle — from contract award through final closeout.

What You'll Do

• Build strong working relationships with Project Managers and serve as a trusted resource on all billing matters
• Set up and maintain projects in Deltek Ajera in accordance with contract requirements; read and interpret contracts for accounting and invoicing implications
• Generate 125–175 invoices per month and prepare monthly billing reports for Project Managers
• Review labor and expense postings for accuracy; process transfers as needed
• Submit complete, accurate invoice packages to clients on time, including all required backup documentation
• Follow up with clients on invoice receipt and payment status; partner with Project Managers to resolve collection issues
• Monitor project Work-in-Progress (WIP) and collaborate with Project Managers to address aging WIP
• Respond promptly and professionally to internal and external inquiries; investigate issues and communicate resolutions clearly
