Anthropic is seeking a software engineer to join Billing, helping to design, implement, and operate the pricing primitives, payment flows, and contract models that power Claude.ai and related products.

You will own end-to-end billing systems, ensure data integrity, and work closely with Finance, Product, Sales, and Accounting to scale revenue operations while maintaining accuracy and auditability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building backend or platform systems in production.
• 3+ years leading large-scale, complex projects or teams as an engineer or tech lead.
• Care about correctness and data integrity as first-class design concerns, especially where money is involved.
• Enjoy cross-functional work between Product, Finance, Sales, and Legal.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship billing capabilities end to end — pricing primitives, payment flows, contract and entitlement models, revenue data pipelines.
• Build for correctness; ensure idempotency, reconciliation, and audit trails where needed.
• Own the interfaces and contracts used by product teams and Finance data pipelines.
• Decide when to extend third-party billing and payment platforms vs. building internal primitives.
• Own the payments stack: authorization rates, retries, processing costs, fraud controls.
• Drive down manual work: enterprise contract amendments, pricing config changes, and billing escalations.
• Operate what you ship: define SLOs for customer-facing flows and ensure revenue data integrity.
• Partner across the company: work with Growth, Sales, Finance, and Product to align on GAAP-clean data and go-to-market needs.
