Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Data Engineer to support Billing & Payments Engineering within the Finance Data Engineering team. You will build scalable data pipelines and reliable metrics across billing, usage, and revenue data to enable self-serve insights for cross-functional teams.

You will own data models, ensure accuracy, and collaborate with Billing Engineering, Finance, Accounting, and Product to deliver timely, high-quality data. Opportunity to influence data architecture and governance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Analytics Engineer.
• Expertise in SQL and Python, with multi-step data pipelines using dbt.
• Experience with workflow tools like Airflow and version control with GitHub.
• Familiarity with billing concepts and data from billing systems.
• Experience building dashboards and reporting in Hex for cross-functional teams.
• Bias for action, end-to-end ownership, and comfortable with ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Billing Engineering, Finance, and Accounting to translate data needs into technical requirements.
• Design, build, and maintain data models and pipelines in dbt transforming billing, usage, and payments data.
• Own revenue data accuracy and reconciliation across systems.
• Define success metrics for billing systems and monitor them.
• Set data integrity standards and SLAs for timely delivery.
• Share on-call and data operations responsibilities for Finance Data Engineering pipelines.
• Build dashboards and self-serve data products tracking core metrics.
• Champion dbt, data modeling, and SQL best practices.
• Influence the Billing Engineering roadmap from a data perspective.
• Become an expert in our data models and architecture.
