Job summary

RKM Primary Care is seeking a billing and coding professional to support patient registration, billing, coding and claims reconciliation across its Federally Qualified Health Center network. You will review accounts, answer questions, post payments, and manage statements with emphasis on accuracy and compliance.

The role requires knowledge of CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS, Medicare/Medicaid programs, and strong reporting skills. Excellent communication with patients and staff is essential.

Qualifications

• Associates or BS in Medical Billing & coding from an accredited college.
• 3-5 years of experience related to patient registration, billing, coding and claims reconciliation.
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payment programs.
• Ability to compile, analyze, and work reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and patients.

Responsibilities

• Contact patients by phone, email, or mail to review account details and set up payment plans if needed.
• Answer phones for billing department and front desk to resolve account questions.
• Receive and post payments by phone, portal, or batches.
• Post payments from commercially billed clients and update patient charts.
• Run unapplied credit reports, request and post refunds.
• Process monthly statements and review for accuracy; recommend write-offs and adjustments.
• Add lab charges to cash-pay patients and coordinate with lab company on billing/payments.
• Document all account activity in EHR, including notices and collection attempts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates or BS in Medical Billing & coding from an accredited college, strongly preferred, AHIMA/AAPC, ARHPC, strongly preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience related to patient registration, billing, coding and claims reconciliation.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
• Ability to facilitate communication effectively with co-workers and patients.
• Knowledge of payment programs (Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party insurance).
• Ability to compile, analyze, and work reports.

JOB DUTIES:

• Contact patients by phone, email, mail, to review account details, including answering questions about their account, collecting balances, setting up payment plans, if needed.
• Answer phone calls for the billing department and front desk resolving patient account questions.
• Receive and post payments by phone, patient portal or from batches.
• Post payments from commercially billed clients ( i.e. drug screens, Villa, War Vets, etc.).
• Run unapplied credit report, request and post refunds to patient charts.
• Process monthly statements and review for patient and billing accuracy ad recommend write-off and adjustments as necessary.
• Add lab charges to cash pay patients and work with lab company on billing/payments.
• Document all account activity in EHR, including bankruptcy notices, payment plans, collection attempts, etc.

Employment Type: Full Time, Monday through Friday.

Starting Salary Range:

$20.00 – $30.00 per hour; up to 3% annual increases.
