Vermont Mutual Insurance Group is seeking an Accounts Receivable Clerk to handle clerical accounting tasks related to policy payments, disbursements, and account reconciliations for customer billing.

The role supports underwriting on escalated inquiries and requires strong bookkeeping skills, proficiency in Excel and other Office products, and the ability to manage payments, deposits, and reports with accuracy.

Qualifications

• Strong bookkeeping and/or accounting knowledge
• Familiarity with computerized accounting systems and various software
• Excellent typing/data entry and general clerical skills
• Ability to work effectively with a variety of company personnel
• Proficiency with PC applications including Outlook, Word and Excel

Responsibilities

• Perform clerical accounting tasks tied to a primary function.
• Provide excellent customer service by supporting underwriting on escalated inquiries
• Apply payments to policies using various methods (ACH, credit cards, unapplied cash)
• Prepare daily banking deposits
• Process disbursement of payments for return premiums
• Conduct routine account balancing and reconciliation tasks
• Review and process electronic funds transfer tasks
• Prepare information for policies to be sent to collections and review reports
• Prepare and use system generated reports
• Create reports, letters and accounting forms using Word, Document Manager and Excel
• Analyze and resolve problem accounts and refer unusual cases to the manager
• Organize and file information as needed
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned
