Job summary

NYU Langone Health invites applications for a Billing Coordinator I – Reproductive Specialists – Wall Street & Bethpage. This role supports the Central Billing Offices by coordinating coding review, charge submission and follow-up on denials to maximize revenue and compliance.

The candidate will train practices on coding guidelines, verify patient insurances, and produce financial reports for providers. Strong communication and medical terminology knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and relevant work experience required.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Good communication, interpersonal and computer skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor reports and assigned workqueues, ensuring coding, charge submission and accounts receivable follow-up is timely.
• Perform charge reconciliation to validate all revenue is captured.
• Review unbilled charge reports and follow up with physicians and/or practice management for unbilled services.
• Identify coding or documentation issues and suggest improvements to physicians; escalate issues as needed.
• Work with front-end staff to verify patient insurance information and benefits; assist in financial clearance processes.
• Respond to practice, physician, and patient inquiries following CBO guidelines and payer rules.
• Serve as a resource to physicians, staff, and management on local and national coding and reimbursement policies.
• Collaborate with Revenue Integrity Analysts to ensure compliance with CPT/ICD-10 guidelines and CMS publications.
• Adhere to compliance issues and patient confidentiality; meet CBO quality and productivity targets.
• May act as a financial counselor to patients regarding benefits and financial options.
• Teach and share new information; communicate delays and workqueue issues to management.
