Job summary

Behavioral Health Solutions of South Texas is seeking a Prevention Specialist to plan and deliver educational sessions for youth on substance misuse prevention, healthy decision-making, and life skills.

You will partner with schools and community sites, provide outreach, and collaborate with partners to promote health and well-being. A Bachelor's in psychology or sociology and bilingual English/Spanish communication are required; travel within the service area is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology/Sociology or equivalent.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups in English and Spanish.
• Travel required within service area and must have reliable transportation, and current TX driver's license with current liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Conducts prevention education/skills training strategy by implementing the assigned curriculum at designated school sites and/or community sites.
• Provide problem identification and referrals to other support services to youth.
• Conducts information dissemination strategy by increasing knowledge and changing attitudes through engaging presentations for youth and adults.
• Ability to network with diverse community partners.
• Conducts positive alternatives in the form of fun, challenging, and structured activities to foster constructive and healthy ways to enjoy free time and learn skills among community of service.
