Job summary

Behavioral Health Solutions of South Texas is seeking a Coalition Specialist to engage RGV communities in prevention, education, outreach, and coalition-building activities promoting behavioral health and awareness of substance use prevention.

The role mobilizes community partners to implement evidence-based prevention services for youth and young adults, with emphasis on rural communities within the service area. Bilingual English/Spanish required; travel and TX driver’s license essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or equivalent.
• Experience in social services, presenting, and community networking preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Reliable transportation and travel within service area.
• TX driver’s license with liability insurance required.

Responsibilities

• Support recruitment of diverse Behavioral Health and community leaders, including MOUs, partnerships, referral pathways, and protocols.
• Support needs assessments, engage stakeholders, and help develop strategic plans addressing priorities and service gaps in Cameron, Hidalgo and Willacy counties.
• Conduct community outreach, prevention education, and awareness initiatives engaging youth, families, schools, and partners.
• Coordinate development and dissemination of media messages and campaigns focused on prevention and resources.
• Support implementation of behavioral health needs assessments to identify strengths and emergent needs.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Coalition Specialist to engage RGV communities in prevention, education, outreach, and coalition-building activities that promote behavioral health and bring awareness related to substance use prevention. The position will mobilize community partners to implement evidence-based, prevention services for youth and young adults with and emphasis on rural communities.

Job Description:

• Support recruitment of diverse Behavioral Health and community leaders, including developing partnerships, MOUs, referral pathways, and communication protocols.
• Support community needs assessments, engage stakeholders, and support development and implementation of measurable strategic plans addressing substance use priorities, high-risk groups, risk/ protective factors, and service gaps in Cameron, Hidalgo and Willacy counties.
• Conduct community outreach, prevention education, and awareness initiatives that engage youth, families, schools, and community partners; promote behavioral health and early intervention; and increase awareness and access to prevention and support services.
• Coordinate the development and dissemination of targeted media messages and awareness campaigns focused on substance use prevention, promoting prevention strategies, reducing risk factors, and increasing awareness of available community resources and support services.
• Support implementation of behavioral health needs assessments to identify community strengths, service gaps, and emerging needs; using findings to strengthen community capacity, inform prevention priorities, and enhance coordination of resources and services.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or equivalent.
• Experience working in social services, conducting presentations, networking in the community or schools or at risk population is preferred.
• Must have reliable transportation as travel is required.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Some travel required within service area and must have current TX driver’s license with current liability insurance

Pay: $33,000 annually
