The Charter School for Law and Social Justice is looking for a Bilingual Teaching Assistant to enhance the learning experience for English Language Learners. About the Role The Charter School for Law and Social Justice is seeking a dedicated Bilingual Teaching Assistant to support instructional delivery and enhance student learning in a high school environment where English Language Learners (ELLs) are an integral part of our school community.
This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring that students and families who speak languages other than English have full access to educational opportunities, resources, and communication.
Key Responsibilities Instructional Support Assist classroom teachers in implementing lessons and instructional activities, especially for ELLs.
Provide individualized and small-group academic support to reinforce learning and promote language acquisition.
Translate and adapt instructional materials for multilingual learners.
Collaborate with teachers to support differentiated instruction and monitor student progress.
Language and Communication Support Serve as an interpreter and translator for students, families, and staff (English / Spanish).
Support communication at parent-teacher conferences, IEP meetings, and other school events.
Assist students in developing academic and social English language skills.
Classroom and School Environment Help create and maintain an organized, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom atmosphere.
Supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and school events.
Contribute to school-wide initiatives that promote equity, inclusion, and multicultural awareness.
Required Qualifications Associate’s degree in educationor a related field.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a school or educational support role.
Possession of a valid New York State Teaching Assistant Certification .
Fluency in both English and Spanish (spoken and written).
