Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools seeks a DLI Teacher Assistant (Spanish Immersion) at Cooke Elementary School to support instructional activities and daily classroom management. The assistant will reinforce teacher-led lessons, assist with materials, and monitor student progress in a bilingual environment.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and fluency in Spanish; Title I support experience and 48 college credits or equivalent may be required.

Qualifications

• Requires fluent Spanish and a High School Diploma or GED.
• Title I Assistants: 48 college credits or pass Paraprofessional Assessment or an Associate's Degree or higher.
• Experience with children is preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with daily classroom activities and routines.
• Reinforce instructional skills to groups and individuals.
• Assist with materials, attendance, library, and safety duties.
• Monitor student behavior and learning progress and report observations.
• Escort students during field trips and supervise playground and restroom activities.
• Maintain organization of bulletin boards and student records.
