Job summary

Board of Education of Charles County is seeking an instructional support aide to assist teachers in elementary, middle, or high school settings during the 10-month term.

The role requires bilingual Spanish/English abilities, strong communication, organization and the ability to plan developmentally appropriate activities under the literacy teacher's guidance; flexibility for substitute coverage and attendance are essential. Experience working with children and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Experience working with children required.
• Bilingual Spanish required.
• Ability to pass the interpreting assessment.
• Excellent human relations skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to plan developmentally appropriate activities as directed by the literacy teacher.
• Must be able to pass the interpreting assessment.
• Must be at least 18 years old to work in elementary schools.
• Must be at least 18 years old and out of high school for at least 2 years to work in middle and high schools.

Responsibilities

• Assists teacher in planning instructional activities and maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
• Works with individuals or small groups to provide instructional reinforcement after the teacher delivers the instruction.
• Works closely with administration as needed throughout the day.
• Assists the teacher in preparing for a lesson.
• Regular on-time attendance.
• Performs related duties as assigned by the principal.
• Required to provide substitute coverage as needed.
