Job summary

The Oregon Department of Education is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist for the Oregon School for the Deaf. The role focuses on supporting language development for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and integrating ASL/English bilingual approaches within IEPs.

Responsibilities include assessments, consultations with teachers, and collaboration with families to monitor progress. Applicants must be licensed and attain ASLPI Level 3 within 12 weeks of hire.

Qualifications

  • Licensure through appropriate state board as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • ASLPI Level 3 certification required within 12 weeks of starting work.
  • ASLPI Level 3 proficiency is required to make the environment accessible.

Responsibilities

  • Support student communication skills as a related service per IEP.
  • Consult with teachers to ensure communications support.
  • Conduct assessments and observations.
  • Plan and prepare using evidence-based strategies including Reciprocal Teaching.
  • Develop and track IEPs and align instruction with IEP objectives.
  • Communicate with parents and staff.
  • Provide feedback on student progress through IEPs.
  • Participate in ASL/English bilingual professional development.
