Job summary

NCSSM is seeking a full-time Instructor of Spanish and French for the Morganton campus. The role focuses on delivering in-person language courses, developing proficiency-based curricula, and mentoring students across residential and online programs.

The candidate must hold a Master’s degree in Spanish or French, demonstrate native to near-native proficiency, and exhibit strong organizational and collaborative skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Spanish or French required.
• Proficiency in both languages at an advanced level (ACTFL Advanced-High or CEFR level C1).
• Strong organizational and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach 3 in-person residential courses in Spanish and French per semester and two two-week January Term courses.
• Develop proficiency-based curricula for varied proficiencies, including heritage speakers.
• Teach engaging language and culture content for residential and online programs.
• Hold office hours and provide feedback to students on progress.
• Participate in department and school committees and advise prospective students.
