Job summary

Lukos LLC in Chaparral, NM seeks a Social Worker/Custody and Removal Coordinator to support ICE detainee operations, safeguard the detention environment and coordinate services for vulnerable individuals.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Social Work or related field, with a Master’s preferred, and fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken). Experience with victims or trauma-informed care is valued, with potential travel and onsite duties.

Qualifications

• Degree issuing institution and or program must be accredited by an entity recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
• Bachelor's degree in Social work, Psychology, or an equivalent degree.
• Master's degree or an equivalent advanced degree preferred but not required.
• Fluent in English and Spanish, written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Assist with needs, requests and complaints from the detained noncitizen population regarding non-officer or immigration case related issues.
• Assist ERO officers with addressing noncitizen requests related to parent/child communication and/or child welfare involvement.
• Facilitate on-site support of disability accommodations, including coordinating followup with detention facilities upon submission of a Disability Accommodation Notification to ERO HQ.
• Assist ERO and detention facility staff to facilitate compliance with agency policies and detention standards, communicating with detained noncitizens on topics including abuse, pregnancy, segregation, and release.
• Address ERO and detention facility staff questions or concerns about specific noncitizens and available services.
• Provide noncitizen referrals to appropriate ERO and detention facility staff for care and follow-up.
• Support noncitizens with specialized needs and conduct wellness checks and follow-ups as requested.
• Meet with newly detained noncitizens during or after intake to answer questions and provide orientation to CRC services.
• Support housing units and programs for vulnerable populations such as transgender housing, behavioral/mental health units, family centers, and reunification efforts.
• Provide language interpretation for facility and ERO staff.
• Provide general support to maintain safety and security of the detention facility.
• Assist in removal planning and departure planning for noncitizens with vulnerabilities.
