Job summary

This role supports students with special needs, implements trauma-informed strategies, and assists with instruction under the supervision of the teacher. Requires Spanish bilingual ability and an education credential such as a high school diploma or higher; a paraeducator assessment or CPI training is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bilingual and/or Biliterate (Spanish) required.
• Associates degree or higher or 72 quarter credits / 48 semester credits required.
• Passing score on the ETS paraeducator assessment or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Use trauma-informed strategies to build safe, supportive relationships and respond with empathy.
• Accurately collect and document data related to academic progress, behavior, and IEP goals.
• Follow CPI-approved strategies to de-escalate challenging behaviors and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Assist in delivering teacher-directed instruction in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional areas.
• Provide one-on-one or small group instruction and assist with materials.
• Administer first aid and provide emergency care as needed.
• Supervise students during arrival/departure, recess, and transitions.
• Report misconduct and assist with safety and district procedures.
• Attend required paraeducator training hours.
