Job summary

Pasco School District No. 1 seeks a Bilingual Instructional Paraeducator for Twain Elementary. You will support classroom instruction, maintain student routines, and assist with behavior and data collection to monitor progress.

Responsibilities include translating information, supervising students, and assisting with testing and materials. Position follows a 180-day calendar with steady training and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Bilingual and/or Biliterate (Spanish).
• Must meet one or more of the following: Associates degree (AAS, AA) or higher; 72 college quarter credits or 48 semester credits in college level 100+ courses; Passing score on the ETS paraeducator assessment.
• Prior paraeducator experience preferred but not required.
• Experience with students who are special needs preferred but not required.
• Valid First aid and/or CPR card for infants and children or willing to obtain.
• CPI trained or willing to attend training.

Responsibilities

• Use trauma-informed strategies to build safe, supportive relationships, maintain consistent routines, and respond to student needs with empathy and emotional regulation support.
• Accurately collect and document data related to academic progress, behavior, and IEP goals, ensuring timely communication with the supervising teacher and support team.
• Follow established behavior intervention plans and apply CPI-approved strategies to de-escalate challenging behaviors, ensuring a safe and structured learning environment for all students.
• Assist in delivering teacher-directed instruction and reinforcement in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional areas in both individual and small group formats, adapting support to meet student needs.
• Administers first aid to provide emergency care.
• Provide one-on-one instruction or group instruction.
• Assist classroom teacher and/or building administrator(s) with classroom management.
• Assist with preparing materials needed to conduct lessons.
• Provide support or supervision of students, including arrival/departure, cross walk duty, transit to bus, recess, breakfast/lunch, hall monitoring, wheelchair assistance.
• Assist with reporting misconduct on school property and/or school bus routes.
• Assist with light cleaning, equipment, and supervising activities.
• Adhere to District safety policies and program guidelines.
• Attend and complete annual required training hours for paraeducator certification.
• Provide support, supervision and/or assistance administering tests or assessments as directed by teacher for evaluating progress.
• Maintain accurate student records in SIS.
