Job summary

Wheeler Clinic seeks a Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) in Hartford, CT. The role requires bilingual Spanish/English abilities, a background in recovery services, and a flexible schedule to address crises and parent/caregiver needs.

Responsibilities include education on recovery, linkage to services, SBIRT screening, and ongoing support for up to six months post-discharge, with supervision and training provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related human services field preferred.
• Experience working in the substance use recovery field and/or lived recovery experience is required.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate client needs and crises.
• Valid Driver's License is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide education on addiction recovery and facilitate linkages to services.
• Conduct SBIRT toxicology screens per schedule (hair samples if requested).
• Use GAIN-SS to screen for mental health, substance use disorders, and risk factors.
• Provide Recovery Monitoring Contacts (RMC) for up to six months post-discharge.
• Coordinate with DCF and community resources to support recovery goals.
• Document clinical activities in client records as required.
