Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Houston seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, review lab results, and manage donor safety under the Center Manager and Center Physician.

The role requires knowledge of plasma collection regulations, completion of FDA training, and cooperation with BioLife Medical Affairs and EHS to ensure compliant, high-quality donor care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent nursing program.
• Current license/certification as LPN/LVN in the state of assignment.
• CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility with informed consent, medical history interview, physical exam, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/EHS as needed.
• Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations.
