Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Houston, TX, is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable tests, under the Center Manager and Center Physician guidance.

The role requires a nursing-related background, EMT-Paramedic license, CPR/AED, IV therapy familiarity, and at least two years in a clinical/hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state: EMT-Paramedic.
• CPR and AED certification on file.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; manage informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and manage medical emergencies including center physician standing orders and donor transport to care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees where applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and seek EHS guidance for further evaluation as needed.

Education
