Job summary

The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Permanency Worker (Social Services Specialist 1) for the Dallas branch. This full-time role requires bilingual English/Spanish communication, trauma-informed practice, and strong case management to safeguard children and support families.

You will conduct home visits, prepare legal documents, attend court hearings, and collaborate with community partners to achieve safe, positive outcomes for vulnerable children and families.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field.
• One year of Human Services related experience or equivalent coursework with a related certification.

Responsibilities

• Support families: help families achieve their goals while ensuring child safety.
• Case management: work with diverse families and partners, including Spanish-speaking communities.
• Engage effectively: interact with children, families, resource parents, and caregivers using trauma-informed approaches.
• Develop strategies: create and implement plans leveraging family strengths.
• Handle documentation and legal duties: conduct home visits, complete legal docs, attend court hearings, address safety issues.
• Balance needs and legal requirements: ensure child and family needs align with legal standards.
• Build rapport: establish relationships to understand family dynamics and needs.
