Job summary

Benchmark Utility Services is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our payroll team and ensure crews are paid accurately and on time. You will verify hours with field supervisors, process payroll data, and maintain clean records across projects.

You''ll collaborate with HR and the payroll administrator, handle regular and overtime calculations, and ensure compliance with federal and state wage laws. Bilingual English/Spanish required.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of payroll processing or similar clerical work.
• Experience with payroll software (ADP, Paycom, Paylocity, Sage).
• Bilingual in English and Spanish — written and spoken.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
• Discretion with payroll data and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Enter and verify payroll hours for field crews and office staff.
• Review and reconcile timecards, flagging discrepancies with supervisors.
• Process regular, overtime, and special pay calculations in line with policy.
• Maintain organized, audit-ready payroll records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state wage and hour requirements.
• Support certified payroll reporting where applicable.
• Collaborate with HR on new hires, terminations, and status changes affecting pay.
