Job summary

Bedford Stuyvesant Family Health Center seeks a bilingual Patient Service Representative to greet patients, verify demographics and insurance, collect co-pays, and schedule visits. The role requires proficiency in English and Spanish and adherence to HIPAA.

The 35-hour work week includes rotating weekends and evenings; the PSR will handle high call volume and collaborate with management to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate records.

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish required.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Must maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and BSFHC policy.

Responsibilities

• Greets and assists patients courteously.
• Initiates the registration process and maintains patient demographics in the management system.
• Verifies and updates insurance information at each visit.
• Collects payments and co-pays per sliding fee scale.
• Schedules initial and follow-up appointments and maintains accurate records.
• Answers 200-300 calls per day and routes inquiries appropriately.
