Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a Patient Services Specialist I for the Ob/Gyn department in Sugarland to enhance patient experience by coordinating clerical and medical activities, handling patient registration, and guiding access to UTMB services for patients.

The role emphasizes strong customer service, scheduling, and financial counseling, with emphasis on confidentiality and teamwork across departments. On-site, Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Excellent customer service and coordination in healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Provides high level customer service in all interactions with internal and external customers.
• Coordinates clerical and medical activities of a healthcare team and patient registration.
• Registers patients and facilitates access to UTMB services for new and returning patients.
• Schedules appointments; provides financial counseling and cost estimates to patients.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and documents calls and encounters.
