Job summary

Urban Ministries of Wake County – Open Door Clinic in Raleigh, NC is hiring a Patient Access Coordinator to guide patients through registration, determine eligibility, schedule appointments, and create a welcoming experience from the moment they arrive.

This part-time, hybrid role combines on-site front-office coverage with remote administrative tasks, using Athena EHR to maintain accurate records and HIPAA-compliant service.

Qualifications

• Languages: bilingual English/Spanish required.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Experience: healthcare administration, patient registration, eligibility, scheduling, or customer service preferred.
• Tech: experience with Electronic Health Records; Athena a plus.

Responsibilities

• Eligibility, Renewals & Registration: guide patients through eligibility, review docs, track renewals, process check-ins in Athena.
• Scheduling & Patient Outreach: manage appointments, waitlists, reminders, and cancellations.
• Front Office & Clinic Operations: greet patients, answer phones, handle admin correspondence, maintain welcoming reception.
• Cross-functional & Administrative Support: cross-train in medical records/referrals to support peak times.
• Team Guidance & Continuous Improvement: support volunteers, propose workflow updates, participate in quality initiatives.
