Job summary

Urban Ministries of Wake County’s Open Door Clinic in Raleigh, NC seeks a Patient Access Coordinator for a part-time, hybrid schedule. You’ll guide patients through registration, eligibility, and appointment scheduling in a welcoming, patient-centered environment.

You’ll work with bilingual English/Spanish patients, support with Athena EHR, and help ensure smooth front-office operations while coordinating with medical staff and volunteers to improve workflow and access to care.

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in Healthcare Admin, Human Services, or related field preferred.
• Experience in healthcare administration, patient registration, eligibility, scheduling, or customer service preferred.
• Experience with Electronic Health Records (Athena) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Eligibility, renewals & registrations using Athena EHR.
• Scheduling, waitlists, reminders, and cancellations.
• Front office: greet patients, answer phones, manage administrative correspondence.
• Cross-train in basic medical records and referral workflows.
• Support volunteers and interns; suggest workflow improvements.
