Job summary

Bremen High School District 228 seeks an Educational Paraprofessional to assist teachers and support students under the ELL Coordinator. This role supports classroom management, organizes instructional materials, assists in the IMC/computer lab, and provides instructional services under supervision.

The normal workday is seven and a half hours with a half-hour lunch, five days per week, about 175 days per year; salary and fringe benefits to be established by the Board of Education.

Qualifications

• Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education or has obtained an associate's (or higher) degree.
• Demonstrate a rigorous standard of quality via a formal state or local assessment (reading, writing, mathematics).
• Ability to speak a second language preferred.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications may be acceptable by the Board of Education.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining high quality services for staff, students, parents, and community members.
• Assist immediate supervisor and carry out duties as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality in all areas.
• Assist with communication on paper so teachers may focus on teaching.
• Assist with classroom management and organization of instructional materials.
• Provide assistance in a computer laboratory or IMC.
• Provide instructional services under teacher supervision.
• Act as a resource for substitutes and alert administrators to student information.
