Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory is seeking a Music Instructor in New York, NY. Responsibilities include providing musical instruction, managing music department resources, and facilitating student participation in music events.

This role requires fluency in both English and Spanish, a minimum Associate Degree or equivalent experience, and strong musical abilities. A positive attitude and strong communications skills are essential. The position is seasonal from June 30 to August 6, with the option to continue into the school year.

Qualifications

• Must be bilingual (English and Spanish).
• Must have basic office skills including the use of computers.
• Minimum Associate Degree in a related field or two years of college in education or youth work, or equivalent experience working with youth and music ministries.
• Must have musical ability in Brass Band, Theory, Vocal, and other Instrumental Instruction such as Piano, Guitar, Bass, etc.
• Strong communication skills, positive attitude, and ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one lessons and musical instruction.
• Lead Corps Brass Band and Singing Company.
• Manage equipment and files of the music department.
• Facilitate student participation in monthly 'Music Sundays'.
• Prepare students for music competitions and assist with logistics.
• Encourage youth participation in music programs.
